Your whole trip on one map

Each day's road in its own colour, with the drive time between every stop.

Pick your dates and your camper. The planner comes with every booking at no extra cost.

  2. Open My booking

Use the link in your confirmation email, or find your booking on our site with your booking number and email.

  3. Your trip is ready

It's planned for your dates and your camper. Move stops, swap campsites, print it or email it to yourself. It's yours until you return the camper.

What the planner does for you

  • Days you can actually drive

Each day stays within your pace: about 3, 4 or 5½ hours at the wheel. Day one starts after pick-up, and in winter the days follow the daylight.

  • Real road times for your camper

Drive times come from the road network, not straight lines. A 2WD camper is never sent onto F-roads or roads rental campers may not use; a 4x4 gets the Highlands when they are open.

  • A campsite for every night

Every night ends at a campsite that is open on your dates. In winter that means the ones open all year. Swap any night for another nearby.

  • Our hidden gems

Beyond the famous stops, the planner knows the quiet waterfalls, hot pots and viewpoints our own team sends friends to.

  • Northern lights chaser

From late August to mid-April, every night shows your chance of seeing the aurora: the cloud forecast at your campsite, aurora activity, how dark it gets and how full the moon is.

  • Google Maps, print and email

Open each day in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions, print the plan, or email it to yourself.

Iceland road trip questions

How many days do you need to drive the Ring Road?

At least 7 days in summer. The Ring Road is about 1,330 km and takes 18 to 20 hours to drive without stops, so 9 or 10 days give you time at the sights without long driving days. In winter add a day or two for short days and closed roads.

How far can you drive in a day in Iceland?

With a campervan, about 3 to 4 hours (200 to 300 km) a day leaves time for the stops. The speed limit is 90 km/h on paved roads, 80 km/h on gravel and 50 km/h in towns, and many sights need a walk from the car park.

What is the best Iceland itinerary for 5 days?

The Golden Circle and the South Coast as far as Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and back. Going further than that in five days means most of your time is spent driving.

When can you see the northern lights in Iceland?

From late August to mid-April, on dark nights with a clear sky. You need darkness (no midnight sun), few clouds and some aurora activity; a small moon and no town lights make them brighter. The Foxie trip planner rates every night of your trip on these.

Can I drive F-roads with a campervan?

Only with a 4x4 camper, and only while the F-roads are open, usually from late June to early September. 2WD campers are not allowed on F-roads, so the planner keeps 2WD trips on roads you may drive.

Who can use the Foxie trip planner?

It comes free with every Foxie Campers booking. Open it from My booking or the link in your booking emails; it is filled in with your dates and camper, and stays open until your rental is closed.

Know which nights to stay up for

From late August to mid-April, every night of your plan shows your chance of seeing the aurora: the cloud forecast at your campsite, aurora activity, how dark it gets and how full the moon is.
