1. Who we are

Foxie Campers (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

• Booking & contact details — your name, email, phone number, country, driving licence number, and flight number when provided.
• Rental details — the vehicle, dates, pickup location, insurance and extras you select, and your booking reference.
• Payment information — card payments are processed by our payment provider (Rapyd). We do not see or store your full card number; we receive only a confirmation and the amount paid.
• Website usage — the basic information every browser sends to every website (IP address, device and browser type). Essential cookies keep the site working and remember your booking choices (see section 8). Google Analytics runs only if you click Accept in the cookie banner; if you click Decline, it doesn’t. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
• Live chat messages — if you use our on-site chat, we store your name, email, optional booking reference, and the message text on Foxie systems in the European Union. We use that data only to answer you (by chat or email) and to link the conversation to your booking when the details match. We do not sell chat content or use it for marketing. While the chat is open, staff can see messages and text typed in the chat box in real time. If you send a photo, we keep it with the chat after removing its location data. Chat conversations, including any email you leave and any photos, are deleted automatically 4 days after the last message.
• Anonieme live paginabezoeken — als de livechat aan staat, zien we kort welke openbare pagina's op dat moment open zijn (paginapad, land en ongeveer de stad, soort apparaat, taal en hoe je bij ons kwam), zodat het team hulp kan aanbieden. Die aanwezigheid blijft maar zo'n twee minuten na je laatste paginasignaal in het servergeheugen, wordt niet als persoonlijk profiel opgeslagen en gebruikt geen fingerprint. Eén kleine eigen cookie (fx_visits) telt hoe vaak je browser de site heeft bezocht en wanneer je hier voor het laatst was, zodat het team terugkerende bezoeken ziet; er staat geen naam, e-mailadres of IP-adres in, hij wordt niet gedeeld en verloopt na 13 maanden. We kunnen anonieme dagtotalen bewaren (pagina × land × apparaat × bron) zonder bezoekers-id's. Op camper- en boekingspagina's zien we ook welke camper en welke data je bekijkt (geen andere boekingsgegevens). Begin je een chat, dan wordt een kopie van het paginaverloop van dat tabblad, land, apparaat en bron en de camper en data bij het gesprek bewaard, net als de berichten. Chatgesprekken, inclusief een e-mailadres dat je achterlaat en foto's die je stuurt, worden 4 dagen na het laatste bericht automatisch verwijderd. Foto's worden opnieuw opgeslagen zonder hun locatiegegevens. Chatberichten kunnen machinaal vertaald worden door DeepL SE (Duitsland), zodat ons team ze kan lezen en in jouw taal kan antwoorden.
• E-mails van de routeplanner — vraag je de routeplanner om je plan te mailen, dan gebruiken we dat adres alleen om het plan één keer te sturen. De e-mail blijft in ons gewone verzendlogboek staan; we zetten je niet op een lijst en gebruiken het niet voor marketing.
• GPS in de camper — elke camper van Foxie heeft een gps-tracker. Die stuurt de positie, snelheid en status van het contact van de camper naar ons kantoor. We gebruiken dat om onderweg voor de camper en voor jou te zorgen: bij pech, diefstal, afgesloten of verboden wegen, en om ons hek te openen als je terugkomt. De positiegeschiedenis wordt na 30 dagen automatisch verwijderd. Tijdens je huur zie je de laatste positie van je eigen camper ook in de routeplanner in Mijn boeking: alleen via je persoonlijke boekingslink, alleen van het ophalen tot het inleveren, en zonder spoor van waar je hebt gereden. Je kunt die positie daar op elk moment verbergen.

3. How we use your data & our legal basis

• To provide your rental — take and manage your booking, hand over and receive the camper, and give you support. Begin je aan een boeking en stop je voordat je betaalt, dan kunnen we je één herinneringsmail over die onvoltooide boeking sturen. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
• To meet legal duties — accounting, tax and vehicle records. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
• To run and protect our business — prevent fraud, secure our systems, and improve our service. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
• Marketing — we do not currently send marketing emails. If that changes, we will email you only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. (Legal basis: consent.)

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Rapyd — payment processing.
• Hetzner — website and data hosting (servers in the EU).
• Cloudflare — media delivery / content-delivery network, and Cloudflare Web Analytics: anonymous visit counts, no cookies.
• Google Workspace — our business email.
• Google Analytics — shows us which pages are visited and where visitors come from, only if you click Accept. We don’t use Google for advertising.

We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.

5. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside Iceland/the EEA. Where that happens — for example Google Workspace (US), Google Analytics (US), and Cloudflare (US) — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking and financial records for as long as required by Icelandic bookkeeping and tax law (generally seven years). Other personal data is deleted when it is no longer needed for the purposes above.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased where the law allows;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time (where we rely on consent).

To exercise any of these, email info@foxiecampers.is. You also have the right to complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies that keep the site working and remember your booking choices, and one small visit-counter cookie (fx_visits, see “Anonymous live page visits” above). It only stores how many times your browser has visited and the date of your last visit, holds no name, email or IP address, is never shared, and expires after 13 months. You can delete it in your browser at any time. We don’t use advertising cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept in the cookie banner. Then Google Analytics records which pages you visit, how you found us (for example a Google search or a link), your approximate location (country or city), your device and browser type and, if you book, the booking reference, amount and camper. It never receives your name, email or phone number, and Google Analytics does not store your IP address. We keep this data for 14 months and use it only to improve the website and see which channels bring bookings. We don’t use Google for advertising.

If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are set. Google then only receives an anonymous signal that a page was viewed, without any identifier that could recognise you. We remember your choice for six months; change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
