Campeggio di Skaftafell: la base ai piedi del ghiacciaio

Si dorme accanto al ghiacciaio, dentro il Parco nazionale del Vatnajökull.
Skaftafell è uno dei migliori campeggi in Islanda se viaggi per camminare e per il paesaggio.
Dormi sotto ghiacciai, boschi di betulle e montagne, e diversi sentieri partono praticamente dalla porta del camper.
Per questo è la base perfetta per la laguna glaciale di Jökulsárlón, la Diamond Beach e la cascata di Svartifoss.
Il campeggio è comodo anche per restare più notti: ideale se preferisci guidare meno e passare più tempo sui sentieri.

Campeggio di Vík: il punto d'appoggio della costa sud
Base sulla costa sud
Una sosta comoda tra Reykjavík e Skaftafell.
Il campeggio di Vík è proprio in paese, vicino a negozi, distributore e caffè.
È quindi una tappa molto pratica sulla Ring Road, comoda per raggiungere la spiaggia nera di Reynisfjara, Dyrhólaey e gli altri punti panoramici della costa.
Molti viaggiatori in camper usano Vík come base flessibile per una o due notti, per esplorare tutto questo tratto di costa sud.
La posizione ti permette anche di cambiare programma quando cambia il meteo: ogni mattina decidi se andare verso est o verso ovest.

Un canyon verde e appartato, lontano dalla strada principale.
Þakgil sembra lontano da tutto, e protetto. Pareti ripide coperte di muschio circondano il campeggio e la strada sterrata d'accesso tiene lontano il traffico.
È l'ideale se vuoi passare una notte lontano da paesi, distributori e pullman turistici.
Una piccola sala da pranzo ricavata in una grotta dà atmosfera e rende accoglienti anche le sere di pioggia.
Molti viaggiatori in camper lo descrivono come uno dei campeggi più particolari dell'Islanda, perché la valle sembra un piccolo mondo a sé.

e capisci davvero dove sei.
Skógar è perfetto anche se vuoi abbinare una tappa breve in camper a una lunga camminata sul sentiero che sale accanto alla cascata.

Il Reykjavík Eco Campsite è il campeggio giusto se ti servono tutti i servizi all'inizio o alla fine del viaggio.
Anche se è vicino al centro di Reykjavík, sembra un vero campeggio e non un parcheggio.
In città vai a piedi o con un breve tragitto in autobus, poi torni a docce calde e cucine in comune.
È la prima tappa ideale dopo il ritiro del camper, e un'ultima notte molto comoda prima del volo di ritorno.

In Islanda non puoi dormire in camper fuori dai campeggi: il campeggio libero non è permesso. Per ogni notte scegli un campeggio.
Quanto costa un campeggio
Nel 2026 un campeggio costa in genere tra 2.000 e 3.000 ISK a persona a notte (tra 15 e 22 € circa), più la tassa di soggiorno nazionale di 400 ISK per camper a notte. Le docce a volte si pagano a parte, mentre i bambini spesso non pagano o pagano meno. L'elettricità ai nostri camper non serve, quindi l'allaccio non lo paghi. I prezzi cambiano da un campeggio all'altro. Prenotare non serve: i campeggi si riempiono di rado, salvo durante i grandi eventi. La Camping Card (Útilegukortið) 2026 costa circa 26.000 ISK (circa 190 €) ed è una sola tessera per camper: copre le notti in campeggio di 2 adulti e fino a 4 bambini sotto i 16 anni che viaggiano insieme, per un massimo di 28 notti in tutto e di 4 notti di fila nello stesso campeggio. Vale fino al 15 settembre in circa 40 campeggi convenzionati, nessuno nelle Highlands. Non comprende la tassa di soggiorno di 400 ISK a notte, e a volte le docce si pagano a parte.
