1. Who we are

Foxie Campers (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

• Booking & contact details — your name, email, phone number, country, driving licence number, and flight number when provided.
• Rental details — the vehicle, dates, pickup location, insurance and extras you select, and your booking reference.
• Payment information — card payments are processed by our payment provider (Rapyd). We do not see or store your full card number; we receive only a confirmation and the amount paid.
• Website usage — the basic information every browser sends to every website (IP address, device and browser type). Essential cookies keep the site working and remember your booking choices (see section 8). Ahrefs counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
• Live chat messages — if you use our on-site chat, we store your name, email, optional booking reference, and the message text on Foxie systems in the European Union. We use that data only to answer you (by chat or email) and to link the conversation to your booking when the details match. We do not sell chat content or use it for marketing. While the chat is open, staff can see messages and text typed in the chat box in real time. If you send a photo, we keep it with the chat after removing its location data. Chat conversations, including any email you leave and any photos, are deleted automatically 4 days after the last message.
• Anonyme Live-Seitenbesuche — wenn der Live-Chat aktiv ist, sehen wir kurz, welche öffentlichen Seiten gerade offen sind (Seitenpfad, Land, Geräteklasse, Sprache und wie Sie gekommen sind), damit das Team helfen kann. Diese Anwesenheit bleibt nur etwa zwei Minuten nach dem letzten Seitensignal im Serverspeicher, wird nicht als Personenprofil gespeichert und nutzt dafür keine Cookies und keinen Fingerprint. Wir können anonyme Tagessummen speichern (Seite × Land × Gerät × Quelle), ohne Besucher-IDs. Auf Camper- und Buchungsseiten sehen wir auch, welchen Camper und welche Daten Sie ansehen (keine weiteren Buchungsdaten). Wenn Sie einen Chat starten, wird eine Kopie des Seitenverlaufs dieses Tabs, von Land, Gerät und Quelle sowie von Camper und Daten mit dem Gespräch gespeichert, wie die Nachrichten. Chat-Gespräche, einschließlich einer hinterlassenen E-Mail-Adresse und gesendeter Fotos, werden 4 Tage nach der letzten Nachricht automatisch gelöscht. Fotos werden ohne Standortdaten neu gespeichert.

3. How we use your data & our legal basis

• To provide your rental — take and manage your booking, hand over and receive the camper, and give you support. Wenn Sie eine Buchung beginnen und vor der Zahlung abbrechen, können wir eine Erinnerungs-E-Mail zu dieser unvollständigen Buchung senden. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
• To meet legal duties — accounting, tax and vehicle records. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
• To run and protect our business — prevent fraud, secure our systems, and improve our service. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
• Marketing — we do not currently send marketing emails. If that changes, we will email you only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. (Legal basis: consent.)

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Rapyd — payment processing.
• Hetzner — website and data hosting (servers in the EU).
• Cloudflare — media delivery / content-delivery network.
• Google Workspace — our business email.
• Ahrefs — anonymous visit counts, no cookies.

We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.

5. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside Iceland/the EEA. Where that happens — for example Google Workspace (US), Cloudflare (US), and Ahrefs (Singapore) — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking and financial records for as long as required by Icelandic bookkeeping and tax law (generally seven years). Other personal data is deleted when it is no longer needed for the purposes above.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data erased where the law allows;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time (where we rely on consent).

To exercise any of these, email info@foxiecampers.is. You also have the right to complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).

8. Cookies

We only use essential cookies: they keep the site working and remember your booking choices. We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Ahrefs counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
